Coffee Planter

more gardening

I don't drink coffee, I drink tea. But lately I've noticed some interesting looking coffee canisters in the grocery store. Somehow said packages wind up in my shopping cart.

Luckily Lance drinks the java--and he now has a huge stockpile. I'm turning a few of them into planters. This one was a coffee bag, but worked just as well as the can did.

What's Needed:

  • Bag of Coffee
  • Small Rocks
  • Potting Soil
  • Plant
  • Pinking Shears

Empty coffee into container (or drink it, for those of you that do) and trim sides of package with pinking shears.

Fill bag with an inch or two of rocks for drainage and to add some weight and stability to bag.

Add dirt to bag, leaving just enough room for plant.

Remove plant from old pot.

Top off with enough dirt to fill container and water.
